Serena Williams marries millionaire Alexis Ohanian in lavish ceremony with A-list guests Beyonce and Kim Kardashian

SERENA Williams married her millionaire fiance Alexis Ohanian in a lavish ceremony in New Orleans in front of A-list guests including Beyonce and Kim Kardashian. The tennis champ, 36, threw a Beauty and the Beast-themed bash and held a cocktail reception in the street outside the venue.

The nuptials were shrouded in secrecy, and even A-list attendees including Jay Z, Beyonce and Kim didn't find out the exact details until the morning of the wedding. It was held at the city's historic Contemporary Arts Center last night and veteran boyband New Edition were reportedly booked to play a set at the reception. Other guests included actress Eva Longoria, who attended with her husband Jose Baston. The former Desperate Housewives star looked stunning in a long, blue, sparkly gown.

Kim Kardashian was spotted jetting into New Orleans ahead of the ceremony, and she saved time by getting changed in the airport before heading into town for the bash. She arrived in grey tracksuit bottoms and an over-sized denim coat, which she swapped for a chic black dress before being driven to the wedding. Serena's sister Venus was among the guests along with her daughter Serena's two-month-old daughter Alexis. Fellow tennis star Caroline Wozniacki wowed in a long blue dress as she attended with her new fiance, basketball player David Lee.

Reports suggest Serena and Alexis invited 250 guests to the ceremony and among them were Beyonce, her husband Jay Z and her mum Tina Knowles. The couple were spotted arriving in a private jet, and the singer was sporting a new hair style with braids down to her waist. They headed to the ceremony with Tina and Beyonce's former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland. Jay Z is said to have been in attendance, but had to rush off to North Carolina immediately after the wedding to perform his next tour date.

The theme of the wedding was said to be 'Beauty and the Beast' and guests entered the ceremony to the tune of 'Be Our Guest' playing. The nuptials are believed to have cost more than $1 million, and a street was said to have been closed off outside the Arts Center. A bar was set up outside and Vogue boss Anna Wintour was seen among the guests having a drink in the street.A source told the Daily Mail: "Serena and Alexis have spared no expense on their dream wedding. "They have hired the best of the best and can't wait to get married in The Big Easy. It's a special city for Serena and somewhere she has always loved." The couple - who have two-month-old daughter Alexis Jr. - started dating in 2015 and announced their engagement in December 2016.

18 Killed, 29 Injured In Maiduguri Suicide Attacks

At least 18 people were killed and 29 others injured when four suicide bombers attacked Muna Gari community in Konduga LGA of Borno State on Wednesday. According to a statement by the state police command, the four suicide bombers, two males and two females, infiltrated Muna Gari community in Konduga LGA, and detonated IED strapped to their bodies at different locations at about 1813hrs.The police said the first explosion occurred at a prayer ground, while the other explosions occurred thereafter, all within the community. The police in the statement said, “A total of 18 persons including the four suicide bombers, died in the multiple explosions. While twenty-nine others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital/State Specialist Hospital for medical attention. Police patrol/EOD teams promptly mobilised to the scene to sanitise and render the area safe. Normalcy has been restored to the community.”
